On behalf of FIU’s Office of Continuing Education, we would like to thank BizCPA’s team for organizing and hosting this seminar on June 6th, as well as Mr. Enrique Cordero, Family Business Advisor for Families in Business, for leading the seminar and educating us on the topic of Family Governance and Succession. Mr. Cordero is currently working with FIU’s Office of Continuing Education on the development of a longer and more detailed workshop on this topic.
As we are well aware, family-owned businesses are economic powerhouses that drive the local, national and global economies. According to SCORE, the nation’s largest network of volunteer, expert business mentors, in the U.S. alone, family businesses account for 64% of U.S. gross domestic product, generate 62% of the country’s employment and account for 78% of all new job creation. This is why it is important that there is harmony in the family business in order to achieve profitability, that there is a shared vision and formality in the execution of the business, that all family members know their roles and most important, that they all know when is the right time for succession.
We want to thank once again the team at BizCPA and Mr. Cordero, and most important, we want to extend our thanks to all the family-owned businesses that participated in this informative seminar.
